LYNCHBURG, Va. — October 2, 2026 — Innovative Wireless Technologies (IWT), in partnership with CORE Natural Resources, has received the 2026 Mining Safety and Health Technology Innovations Award in the coal mining sector.
Presented by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in conjunction with the National Mining Association (NMA), the award recognizes organizations that have made significant contributions to advancing mine safety and health through innovative technologies.
Representatives from IWT and CORE Natural Resources accepted the award during an October 1 ceremony in Washington, D.C., where each organization was presented with a plaque recognizing the joint achievement.
The recognition reflects the ongoing collaboration between IWT and CORE Natural Resources to develop and apply technology that improves safety, situational awareness and operational capabilities in challenging mining environments.
“Working alongside mining companies like CORE gives us the opportunity to take technology beyond the development stage and put it to work solving real-world challenges,” said Eric Hansen, CEO of IWT. “This award is a reflection of the collaboration, innovation and commitment to safety shared by both teams.”
For more than two decades, IWT has developed rugged wireless communication, tracking, monitoring and situational-awareness technologies designed for demanding underground environments. The company continues to work closely with mining operators and industry partners to advance technologies that help create safer, smarter and more connected mining operations.
IWT congratulates the teams at both IWT and CORE Natural Resources whose work contributed to this recognition.
