The SENTINEL™ Wireless Gas Monitor (WGM) is a flexible environmental monitoring solution designed for harsh environments that can be configured with up to four types of gas sensors. The monitors feature user replaceable gas sensor modules and transmit gas levels, ambient temperature, pressure, and humidity readings. While the WGM can be used anywhere, it was designed for underground use in mines and tunnels and is MSHA-approved and Intrinsically Safe (CFR 30 Part 18).

The WGM supports wireless backhaul as part of an integrated architecture using IWT’s wireless SENTINEL™ Communication and Tracking System, or can operate as a stand-alone system. The device can act in two modes – a single or multi-gas sensor, or a wireless sensor repeater for hard to reach areas. The WGM provides up to 6-month battery life (single sensor) using four D alkaline batteries.

Local & Centralized Gas Monitoring

The SENTINEL™ Wireless Gas Monitoring (WGM) System offers two seamless options tailored to your needs. As a standalone system, the SENTINEL™ monitor provides real-time gas readings directly at the source, enabling immediate local response. Or, for centralized monitoring and heightened situational awareness, integrate monitors with our SENTINEL™ Dispatch Station. This dynamic combination empowers your Control Center to oversee readings and alarms in real-time, optimizing safety protocols and response strategies.  

Users of the SENTINEL™ Dispatch Station can also take advantage of a compensation algorithm software when using a multi-gas WGM with sensor modules for hydrogen and carbon monoxide (CO).  The unique algorithm allows users to monitor CO levels near battery charging stations where batteries can vent hydrogen without receiving false alarms at the Dispatch Station.

Audible & Visual Gas Event Notification

The SENTINEL™ Section Alarm is a wireless notification device that integrates with the SENTINEL™ Wireless Gas Monitor (WGM), continuously monitoring atmospheric conditions and receiving event notifications from the WGM. In the event of elevated gas levels reaching alert or alarm thresholds, the Section Alarm provides audible and visual notifications, alerting personnel to potential hazards. Integration with the

SENTINEL™ Communications and Tracking System enables dispatch personnel with remote monitoring and control capabilities, allowing for swift and coordinated responses to gas-related incidents. This real-time oversight enhances overall situational awareness and response efficiency.

The alarm boasts practical features designed to optimize reliability. With an internal backup battery providing up to 4 hours of power, miners can trust the device to remain operational even in the event of power disruptions. The front-facing LEDs display power and network statuses at a glance. The option to use an external antenna extends signal range, providing flexibility to adapt to various underground layouts and environments. By providing timely and precise notifications of hazardous gas levels, the alarm empowers personnel to proactively address risks, ultimately contributing to a safer and more secure work environment underground.

The SENTINEL™ Wireless Gas Monitor features front-facing battery compartments to make battery replacement easy, while removable sensor modules allow users to perform general maintenance. A high-resolution, backlit display provides clear gas readings as well as helpful status indicators, such as battery life, communication range, and calibration.
